Emergency services rescue four people from Sheffield house fire

Four people were rescued from a house fire in Wordsworth Avenue in Parson Cross last night.

Fire crews were dispatched to the property just before 9pm and rescued three adults and one child from the building.

A spokesperson from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Four fire crews were mobilised last night to a house fire on Wordsworth Avenue, Sheffield after the call was received at 8.56pm.”

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that firefighters left the scene at approximately 11.18pm after the crews used three hose reels to extinguish the fire.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said four people were taken to hospital with injuries which were not thought to be life threatening.

An investigation is currently ongoing and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

The road was closed to traffic during the incident.
