Two more people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a woman dead in a Sheffield flat.
Officers forced entry into a home in Skelton Close shortly after 8am on Monday and found the woman’s body.
Following a forensic post mortem yesterday, the woman was identified as Sarah Brierley, aged 49.
After an initial inspection of the scene, Ms Brierley’s death was treated as suspicious and an investigation was launched.
The post mortem revealed that Ms Brierley had died of serious head injuries.
A man and a woman from the Woodhouse area were arrested on 20 February on suspicion of murder but have now been released on bail.
Earlier today a 39-year-old man and a 38-year-old-woman, both from Sheffield, were arrested and are now in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles is overseeing the investigation. He said: “We continue to carry out work to establish what happened to Sarah and the events which led to her death.”
Police activity in the area will continue in the coming days while they gather information and work to piece together information.
Det Ch Insp Knowles has appealed to residents to get in touch with any information.
He said: “We are particularly keen to hear from anyone living locally who may have seen, heard or noticed anything suspicious over the last few weeks. If you do have information, please don’t hesitate to speak to officers out and about on duty.”
