A University of Warwick student who beat cancer has described how gaming helped him to defeat his mental health issues.
Max Hill, 19, went into remission in 2018 and attended university last year. During his attendance, his brother developed a fistula in his stomach.
Max said: “Restrictions were tight due to my body’s inability to fight back efficiently – I couldn’t return home – I couldn’t see my brother.”
Max Hill has since battled the mental struggles through avid gaming, specifically playing League of Legends.
Max added: “It was the one way I could cope. To talk and play with my brother – it meant the world to me.
“I need others to know – you can fight this. Video games were just the key that opened the door to it.”
