The Director of Public Health in Sheffield has said that recent changes to Covid-19 in Sheffield is in line with expectations.
The overall seven day rate is now at just under 50 per 100,000, which was at over 100 per 100,000 just a few weeks ago.
Greg Fell said: “This is playing out as we expected. There are no flashing red lights on my risk radar at the moment.”
The R rate, which is the average number of people that one infected person will pass the virus onto, is between 0.8 and 1 in Sheffield.
Vaccine deployment continues across Yorkshire, with the evidence showing that hospitalisation due to Covid-19 and diagnoses of Covid-19 in hospital are decreasing due to vaccinations.
Covid-19 related hospital activity is also very low, at 2%.
The weekly situation report revealed that everything is as expected, and the biggest risk at the moment is people travelling overseas and bringing the virus back into the UK.
