Sheffield primary school closes after a number of positive coronavirus cases

Valley Park Primary School and Nursery has announced they’ll be closed today as a precautionary measure after identifying a number of positive Coronavirus cases.

The closure, less than two weeks after they re-opened, was announced in a letter to parents yesterday, 18 March.

The school issued the announcement following discussion and advice from Public Health England.

The school said: “This has been done as a precautionary measure, given our commitment to the health and well-being of all children and staff.”

The school, on Norton Street, accommodates children aged 2-11 and has around 450 pupils.

The closure comes despite a positive tweet on the school’s Twitter page last week, highlighting that they had “loved having their children back” following the nationwide reopening of schools on 8 March.

The school said that they would issue another update to parents ‘soon’ regarding arrangements for Monday 22nd March.
