Director of Public Health Sheffield, Greg Fell, said that 45 per cent of the Sheffield adult population have received their first dose thanks to a “spectacularly amazing effort” by all involved.
Dr Fell said: “The benefits of the vaccination scheme are gargantuan and well beyond our hopes.”
The director spoke of the recent conversation around doubts of the AstraZeneca vaccine and he stated that the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have not changed their view that their is no evidence that the vaccine causes deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
He went on to say that he has been contacted by the NHS offering him a vaccine and that he will be taking it.
A Covid-19 mobile testing unit, which was at Jordanthorpe, has now been relocated to Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, Sheffield. The site is both a walk-through and drive-through test site which is open seven days a week from 11am-4pm.
