Supermarket staff threatened during robbery

Staff members were threatened during a reported robbery at a supermarket in Stannington, Sheffield.

On Sunday evening, around 8.30pm, an unidentified man wearing a face covering entered the Co-op supermarket on Oldfield Road demanding money to be placed in a large yellow shopping bag.

He also demanded cigarettes be placed in the bag before leaving the shop, walking towards Deer Park Flats along Stannington Road.

No one was hurt in the incident, South Yorkshire Police said.

The suspect is described as white, between 30 and 45 years old, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins tall, wearing a dark blue/black beanie-type hat with a black snood, navy blue jacket and black tracksuit bottoms. He spoke with a local Yorkshire accent.

He was carrying what seemed to be a bag for life.
