Sheffield enjoys hot weather despite Lockdown rules

Temperatures soared on the final day of February encouraging people to leave their homes and enjoy the sun.

Sunday achieved a high of 12°C in parts of Yorkshire as many people ignored the lockdown rules and spent the day enjoying the rare hot February weather.

The average temperature for February in Sheffield is 3.8°, with only the summer months having a higher average temperature than yesterday.

Vanessa Toll, 37, enjoyed the day walking around Endcliffe Park with her two young children and said: “The nice weather gave the kids a really good excuse to go outside. There’s not too much left to do in our house, but this weather was a very nice change, it makes us excited for the coming months.”

This is despite the UK still being amidst its third lockdown, which began on the 4th of January, meaning you are only allowed outside once a day for daily exercise.

However, the government have recently announced a “roadmap” out of the lockdown. The first step begins on 8th of March, allowing children to go back to school, and ends on 21st of June with all social distancing set to be abandoned should the UK continue to hit its vaccination targets.
