More people would like to start working remotely after COVID-19 was characterized as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
Employers are advising their staff to work from home if possible as this is one of the measures to prevent fuelling the outbreak, however, this is not the case for some people.
Big companies such as HSBC already have people working remotely. Irwin Mitchell, one of the leading companies in Sheffield, commented: “We have a lot of people working remotely but this is not because of the Coronavirus.
“It’s for other reasons and it’s part of their contracts. They work from the office for a couple of days and then for the rest of the week they work from home.”
Some people believe that the situation at the moment with COVID-19 can be a test to see if remote working can become the new normal, but for many people in the UK it already is.

It will be interesting to see what changes in work practices will end up being permanent, after the sudden uptake in #remoteworking and virtual meetings due to #coronavirus . Just had my first example of a site visit being cancelled but changed to a skype meeting instead.

An online petition circulated the web the past couple of days regarding the closure of schools and colleges for an appropriate amount of time amidst COVID-19 and so far nearly 300, 000 people have signed it. #Closetheschoolsuk was trending last night as well.
I have no qualms about taking my kids out of school when I see fit. One has asthma and the other is disabled with complex needs and uses a steroid spray for poor breathing. They can take me to court if thry don't like it#ClosetheSchoolsuk
