The 74-year-old who died in a crash in Brampton-en-le-Morthern last week has been named as John Webb.
The police were called to a collision at 8.30pm last Tuesday by the driver of a vehicle believing she’d hit something. Initial searches were carried out to try and work out what had happened.
It wasn’t until the next morning at 8.30am that Mr Webb’s body was found close to the scene of the collision on Long Road by the ambulance service.
Mr Webb’s family have given this tribute: “Beloved dad, grandad and uncle to family members across the world, John Webb will be remembered as a loveable rogue who always lived life to the full. Although sadly diminished by an unforgiving condition, he never stopped exploring the place where he lived and enjoying his freedom. He will be missed.”
The family have asked for privacy and continue to be supported by specialist officers.
The police would like to hear from anyone who was driving through Long Road last Tuesday evening that might have witnessed the incident or seen anyone walking on the road.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 170 of 19 February 2020.
