Voting is taking place today for the first mayor to be elected for Sheffield City Region.
Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield, known as the Sheffield City Region combined authority area, are voting for a combined authority mayor for the first time since the SCRCA was established in 2014.
One third of the seats for Sheffield City Council are also up for grabs today.
This is part of the Local Government Elections which are being held in England with seats on approximately 150 councils being contested.
In Sheffield people will cast their votes for 28 out of a total of 84 councillors.
The new mayor will be working with the nine council leaders to deliver economic growth in the area, work on transport and regeneration.
They will be a major figure in the political life of Sheffield and act as an ambassador for the city for the next four years.

The local election count will take place overnight on Thursday 3 May, with results expected around 3am and the Mayoral election count will take place on Friday 4 May, with results expected after lunchtime.
